Here’s a sneak preview of the first pressure sensor dress – it’s almost done!
The pressure sensors are the lacy frills on the hips so that the sound is activated when the wearer puts her hands on her hips. The harder she presses, the louder the audio will play. The speakers are on the shoulders, close to the ears.
We had to do a bit of trouble-shooting for the audio. We had conductive thread running up the back of the dress from the Arduino to the speakers on the shoulders, but due to the resistance and noise on the thread, the sound was barely audible! We’ve now replaced the conductive thread with flexible wire. This is something we wanted to avoid, but it seems to have solved the problem and isn’t in a very flexible area of the dress as it runs up the sides of the zip.
